Whales have an almost otherworldly quality to them. Whales are one-of-a-kind, stunning, graceful, and mysterious. They care for, bond with, play with, sing, and collaborate.
Have you seen these gorgeous creatures up close and personal? Many people who come into contact with whales benefit from their presence. Do you want to know more about them? The Gold Coast Whale Festival is a must-attend event.
The Gold Coast Whale Festival will occur in John Laws Park in Burleigh Heads on Saturday, August 6, 2022. The festival, organised by Humpbacks and Highrises (HHR), aims to raise awareness about the waters and the majestic whales that visit the Gold Coast every year.
The Gold Coast Whale Festival is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to learn more about whales in the Gold Coast bay and how they can help. There will be Science talks, stalls and exhibits from several organisations leading our community to marine and coastal sustainability.
Throughout the day, there will be activities for the whole family to learn and be the change they want to see. It includes a beach clean-up, a guided whale survey from Burleigh Hill, a guided Rocky Shore Exploration, and fluke matching for our youngest to learn more about whales. Also, there will be kids colouring and face painting and live music.
Why not go whale-watching after the Gold Coast Whale Festival? The prime whale-watching season on the Gold Coast is from July through October. On the famous “Humpback Highway,” migratory humpback whales pass just off the coast, and seeing them up close will be an unforgettable experience.
Burleigh Heads is one of the best places on the Gold Coast to go whale watching for free. If you want to see the whales this year, Burleigh Heads has excellent lookout sites from where you may observe them.
